Weddings
Christ Church West Goulburn (built 1884) provides a warm and intimate setting for a wedding and we welcome enquiries. Our two rural centres also offer romantic settings with St Bartholomew’s Windellama (built in 1859) set in the middle of open fields, and St Mark’s Bronte (built in 1873) set in the middle of trees in a paddock.
The wedding service is a Christian ceremony within the Anglican tradition. As such, it follows an Anglican form of service. Apart from the religious ceremony, there are particular legal requirements for a wedding. An official Notice of Intended Marriage is to be completed at least one month and one day prior to the wedding and special permission is required if either party is under 18 years of age.
Since marriage is intended to be a life long union, couples are required to complete the marriage preparation course PREPARE/ENRICH with the minister. This course covers various aspects of a marriage relationship and helps develop the skills for building a good foundation for a couple’s life together.
The minister will meet with a couple approximately 6 times to complete the marriage preparation programme, to complete the legal paperwork, to plan the service and to have a rehearsal.
A brochure with more information, along with an application form, is available from the Rector.
