Baptisms, Confirmations, Weddings & Funerals

From the joy of baptism to the promises of a wedding and the tenderness of a farewell, God is present in every significant moment of our lives.

Life Milestones in the Anglican Tradition

The Anglican tradition invites us to mark life’s significant moments in faith, surrounded by prayer, community and the promises of God. Our clergy would be glad to speak with you about baptism, confirmation, weddings or funerals.

Baptisms

Baptism

A Meaningful Step of Faith, Welcome and New Life

Baptism celebrates the new life we have in Christ.

It is an opportunity to thank God, pray for the person being baptised, and welcome them into the life of the church.

In baptism, water symbolises cleansing, forgiveness and our sharing in the death and resurrection of Jesus.

We offer baptism for both adults and infants, and we would be glad to talk with you about what this step means.

Confirmations

Confirmation

Affirming faith and belonging in the Anglican Church.

Confirmation is a public statement of faith in Christ and a commitment to follow him throughout life.

It also affirms membership in the Anglican Church of Australia.

Those baptised as infants may confirm the promises made on their behalf by parents and godparents. Those who have not previously been baptised are baptised before being confirmed by the visiting bishop.

Anyone mature enough to understand and make a public statement of faith may be confirmed. As a rough guide, this is usually from early high school upwards.

weddings

Weddings

A sacred and welcoming setting for the beginning of married life.

Christ Church West Goulburn, with its warm stone walls and beautiful stained-glass window, provides an intimate and deeply meaningful setting for a wedding. St Bartholomew’s Windellama offers a peaceful rural alternative surrounded by open fields and a strong sense of history.

An Anglican wedding is a Christian ceremony. Legal paperwork, including the Notice of Intended Marriage, must be completed at least one month and one day before the ceremony. Our minister will meet with you to prepare, plan the service, finalise requirements and hold a rehearsal.

funerals

Funerals

Gentle care, prayer and hope in a time of farewell.

A Christian funeral gives thanks for the life of a loved one, allows space for grief, and offers words of hope and comfort from the Christian faith.

Our clergy are honoured to walk alongside families at this time, offering a funeral service that is personal, prayerful and grounded in the hope of eternal life in Christ.
